2 Louisiana residents charged with a crime

After an investigation into multiple vehicle break-ins, Louisiana authorities have made two arrests. A 19-year-old man and an unidentified juvenile have been taken into custody and charged with a crime. The alleged crimes took place in the Shreveport area, which is also where both of the accused individuals reside.

Police arrested the two while investigating reports of a burglary in progress. It is unclear where the two individuals were located in relation to the vehicle, but police claim that they located a parked car near the scene that they believe had been driven by the 19-year-old. Inside that car, police allegedly found a semi-automatic handgun that had been reported stolen. Other items from the vehicle are believed to have been stolen in other vehicle break-in incidents.

It is unclear if the car belonged to the 19-year-old, or if items found within that vehicle are the only form of evidence that link the young people to the string of vehicle break-ins. However, as of the time of this report, both have been charged with 12 counts of simple burglary. In addition, the 19-year-old is charged with possessing a stolen firearm. Those crimes carry significant punitive penalties if a conviction is obtained.

Having a criminal conviction on one's record can be a very serious matter. It could impede one's ability to attend college, join the military or find gainful employment. When charged with a crime, young people in Louisiana will want to make every effort to avoid conviction, and the various negatives that could follow.
