When an individual is accused of a drug-related crime, a series of events is set into place immediately. It is absolutely critical to address the issues associated with drug charges at once, and to take an aggressive legal stance in the matter. Failure to do so can lead to a wide range of legal ramifications, many of which can change the course of a Louisiana resident’s life.

Such is the scenario facing a 52-year-old Northwest Louisiana woman who was recently arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses. Police went to a Natchez home to investigate reports of drug activity within the residence. Upon entering the property, police claim to have found several different types of drugs, including what they believed to be methamphetamine, marijuana and several types of prescription medication. In addition, several guns were removed from the home, including a semi-automatic rifle.

The woman now faces a number of serious drug charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana. A 17-year-old girl was also in the home at the time of the arrest, and police claim to have found a small amount of marijuana in the girl’s handbag. The older woman was also charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute the drug to individuals under the age of 17, as well as possession and use of controlled substances in the presence of a minor.

These drug charges are very serious, and if the woman who stands accused of the above-mentioned drug and weapons offenses wishes to avoid serious punitive measures, a fast and aggressive legal response will be required. In preparing a response to these charges, all aspects of the case will be closely examined by her Louisiana legal team. Once that process is complete, she will be advised of the potential outcomes associated with each available legal strategy, and a decision will be made as to how she should move forward.
