Pornographic images on hard drive brings Internet crimes charges

After an investigation into the distribution of child pornography over the Internet, a Louisiana man was recently arrested by local and state authorities. Detectives from the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Division of the Plaquemines Sheriff's Office launched an investigation toward the end of November. The 30-year-old man from Ponchatoula is now facing Internet crimes charges that include child pornography distribution.

Man sentenced for sex crimes may need additional representation

A Louisiana man who was facing charges of aggravated rape was recently sentenced to a prison term of 45 years after entering into a plea agreement with prosecutors. He is the same man who remains under suspicion for the death of his infant son in Lake Charles. Now that he has been convicted of sex crimes, authorities there may once again pursue a first-degree murder charge against him, which means he may need additional representation.

Did brain damage lead to being charged with a crime?

The lasting effects from a traumatic brain injury are often difficult to judge. After being involved in a life-threatening car accident in 1991, Louisiana State Senator Troy Brown suffered damage to his brain that left him with what he considered to be minor short-term memory loss -- until recently. After being charged with a crime of which he has no memory, he now believes that the problem may be more serious than he previously thought.
