Two men were recently arrested on several counts of child pornography in Louisiana. They were charged on a Wednesday. The men facing sex crime charges are ages 35 and 36.

The older man was charged with 60 counts of child pornography. The younger man was charged with 30 counts of child pornography. Following the arrests, the state’s attorney general recently said his office was committed to making communities in Louisiana safer and that it would aggressively pursue and prosecute any child predators.

The investigation into the two men’s activities was conducted by the Louisiana State Police along with the Cyber Crime Unit. The men were placed in a parish correctional center. A bond was not set for the older man’s release, while a $45,000 bond was set for the younger man.

People in Louisiana who are facing sex crime charges have the right to go to trial if they consider this to be in their best interests. Prosecutors have to prove these charges beyond a reasonable doubt by appropriate evidence before criminal convictions are possible. In some cases, the weight of possible evidence to be presented by the prosecution suggests the need for pursuing plea agreement negotiations, which, if available, might lead to reduced charges or a lighter sentence from the Louisiana court. The criminal defense in this type of case will push for an outcome that is the most personally favorable for the defendant while simultaneously making sure that the accused person’s applicable legal rights are upheld at all stages of the criminal proceedings.
