Police officers have difficult jobs. They are tasked with the important responsibility of removing illegal drugs from the streets. Many are committed to their responsibility, but while they seek to achieve this goal, they must also ensure that their efforts do not violate the rights of those they suspect of being involved with illegal drugs. Three people in Louisiana are likely each conferring with a criminal defense attorney to review their case. A lawyer can focus on ensuring that all applicable legal rights are honored with regard to the pending drug charges.

According to reports, officers and agents with a variety of different organizations were investigating alleged illicit drug activity. Their investigation reportedly led them to a residence in the early morning hours of a day in March. Officials claim that they discovered approximately $20,000 in illegal drugs.

A variety of different drugs were allegedly confiscated. They include hydrocodone, methamphetamine, alprazolam, hydrocodone, marijuana and crack cocaine. Officials claim they also confiscated materials used to package the drugs for sale. Two men and a woman were arrested and now face multiple charges.

Many details regarding the investigation and arrest are unclear, including what initially sparked investigators’ suspicions. Unfortunately, those arrested on drug charges could have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. In order to ensure that they are treated lawfully throughout the criminal process and that their interests are represented, many in Louisiana choose to hire an attorney experienced with such cases. Having such a person on their side can provide them peace of mind as they make crucial decisions that will likely have a significant impact on the rest of their lives.
