The loss of a life is always a tragedy, regardless of the circumstances. An accident involving a fatality deserves a thorough investigation to determine its exact cause to ensure justice for victims. However, not all accidents in Louisiana are the result of criminal behavior. Unfortunately, a young man in Louisiana now faces drug charges, among many others, following a recent fatal crash.

The accident happened one afternoon on a day in early April. Many of the details of the crash are unclear. However, it is known that a 28-year-old man reportedly passed away after someone rear-ended his vehicle.

A 24-year-old man was recently arrested in connection with the accident while still listed as a patient in the hospital. He has since been transported to jail. Charges include second-offense driving while intoxicated, reckless operation, general speed law, misuse of a two-way center turn lane, vehicular homicide and possession of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The charges against the man following the Louisiana accident are serious and will likely have significant consequences if he is convicted. Because most people are unfamiliar with the criminal justice process, they choose to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to help guide them. With professional help, those facing drug charges, as well as accusations of other crimes, are better prepared to make informed decisions about their case based on an understanding of the potential outcomes of their choice. Options typically include whether to fight the charges in court or plead guilty in exchange for reduced charges or a reduced sentence.
