Louisiana man likely preparing criminal defense after arrest

The end of a relationship can be complicated, especially if one person has trouble with the decision to end it. Regardless, most couples in Louisiana are able to end their relationship relatively calmly. Unfortunately, police claim that was not the case for one man. He is now left to decide on a criminal defense after multiple charges were filed against him.

The case involves a 21-year-old man and his ex-girlfriend. According to police, the man forced his way into his ex's house where he began threatening her with a knife and hitting her. After the intervention of a juvenile, the woman claims she was able to escape to a neighbor's house and call 911. In the meantime, the man reportedly fled the scene, taking the alleged victim's sports utility vehicle, purse and cellphone with him.

Police say that, upon investigation, they discovered water bottles, food, bottles of urine and bedding in the woman's attic, leading them to believe that the man had been living there. Officers also claim that he damaged the woman's house and belongings. He now faces multiple charges, including stalking, domestic abuse, home invasion, felony theft and theft of a motor vehicle.

If convicted of the charges against him, the Louisiana man could face serious consequences. As a result, he is likely working with an experienced criminal defense attorney to guide him through the process. With such help, he will be in a better position to consider his legal options, including whether to fight the charges at trial or negotiate a plea deal.
