Corey Feldman faces drug charges in Louisiana

Police in Louisiana often work hard to remove illegal drugs from the streets. However, in their efforts, they may mistreat someone they suspect of having such drugs. Many people facing drug charges, unfortunately, may not be able to recognize unlawful treatment or know what action to take if they do.

Corey Feldman, a former actor and current musician, may be wondering if his rights were violated in the events that recently led to drug charges being filed against him. Feldman was reportedly touring in Louisiana when he claims that his tour bus was stopped by police. The stop, according to a post Feldman made on social media, was a “shake down,” with police requesting autographs and pictures afterward.

His social media post also provides other details. Although he says he was charged because marijuana was found on the bus, he claims that it actually belonged to a crew member who reportedly had a prescription from another state. Feldman also argues that others who were present also had legally prescribed drugs that were not in their correct container. A representative with the police department reports that Feldman was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.

It is unclear what prompted the stop and apparent search of Feldman’s tour bus by Louisiana police or if officers had a search warrant. To help respond to the drug charges against him, Feldman is likely conferring with an attorney who has extensive experience with state criminal laws. By doing so, he can determine whether his rights were violated in the events leading up to the charges against him and, if so, what to do about it.
